Emulex First to Ship 4 Gb/s Host Bus Adapters into its Worldwide Distribution Channel

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 3, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the industry's preeminent source for a broad range of advanced storage networking infrastructure solutions, today announced that the company is first to deploy 4 Gb/s SAN connectivity solutions to its worldwide channel distribution partners. This effort underscores both the accelerated pace of 4 Gb/s product availability and Emulex's leadership position in bringing 4 Gb/s technologies to market.

With general availability of its 4 Gb/s family of Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs), Emulex is enabling its distribution partners worldwide, including ACAL, Bell Microproducts, Info X, Tech Data and Tokyo Electron Limited, to take a leadership role in delivering next generation SAN technologies.

"Emulex is once again leveraging its first-to-market position to ensure its partners and customers remain at the forefront of next generation technologies, such as 4 Gb/s," said Fred Gill, executive vice president of worldwide sales, Emulex Corp. "Emulex continues to aggressively support its channel partners through training and incentive programs, which bring added value to their business efforts, while reinforcing channel leadership."

The Emulex 4 Gb/s family of HBAs, including the LP11000 and LPe11000, offer twice the speed and performance of 2 Gb/s host bus adapters, while delivering seamless backwards compatibility with existing 2 Gb/s and 1 Gb/s SANs. In addition, the LP11000 and LPe11000 are available for use within PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express systems, which are new bus architectures that increase bandwidth performance.

Emulex continually invests in its distributors and resellers via the company's various channel initiatives, such as the "Perfect 10" by providing sales tools that include technical training, presentations and exclusive promotional programs. Today, both the Emulex LP11000 and the LP1150 HBAs have been delivered to the company's key authorized resellers.
