JetBlue Launches New Service at Newark Liberty International Airport

New York City's Hometown Airline Launches Newark Service Today; Low-Fare Carrier to Have 16 Daily Departures by Thanksgiving

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- JetBlue Airways, (Nasdaq:JBLU) New York City's hometown airline, today launched new service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, FL.

The low-fare carrier will continue its growth at Newark on October 19, when it begins nonstop service to Tampa, West Palm Beach and Fort Myers, FL. JetBlue's sixth destination from Newark will launch on November 17 with daily service to San Juan, Puerto Rico. By Thanksgiving, JetBlue will offer 16 daily nonstop flights from Newark. JetBlue will operate its flights from gates A21 and A22.

"Since we began flying in 2000, New Jersey customers have asked us to bring our low-fare and superior service closer to their homes near Newark Liberty International Airport," said JetBlue CEO David Neeleman. "On behalf of JetBlue's almost 9,000 crewmembers, we're pleased to make this happen today. Renaming the Garden State 'Blue Jersey' is entirely up to the citizens, though."

"On behalf of the State of New Jersey, I'd like to officially welcome JetBlue to one of the nation's premier facilities -- Newark Liberty International Airport," said Acting Governor Richard J. Codey. "Today is a win-win for everyone. JetBlue will bring more flights, more flexibility and more choices for our travelers. And the fact that they've chosen to expand here is evidence that New Jersey's economy is growing and we are a great place to do business."

"Welcome to the neighborhood, JetBlue!" said Senator Frank Lautenberg. "Your arrival is not only exciting news to New Jerseyans, it is great news for passengers all along the Northeast rail corridor. With JetBlue service beginning, Newark Liberty International -- one of the only airports in the nation with inter-city rail access -- continues to lead the way in providing transportation choices."

"We in New Jersey are very excited about the launch of a company with JetBlue's outstanding reputation for customer service and affordable fares," said Congressman Donald Payne. "JetBlue's presence will enhance tourism and provide passengers with a wider variety of choices. It is a pleasure to welcome JetBlue Airways to my home city of Newark."

"I welcome JetBlue to New Jersey and wish them well as they expand their service and provide more options for air travelers everywhere. This new arrival at Newark Liberty Airport will make it even easier to get into and out of New Jersey, making our state an even more attractive business destination and spurring economic growth throughout the region," said Rep. Bob Menendez, member of the House Aviation Subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

"We welcome JetBlue to the city of Elizabeth, one of the fastest growing cities in the State," stated Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage. "We congratulate them on their expansion to one of the busiest airports in the world and wish them well."

Port Authority Chairman Anthony R. Coscia said, "The arrival of JetBlue will spur tremendous growth and competition at Newark Airport, just as we have seen at JFK and LaGuardia. Our ten-year strategic plan prepares Newark Airport for JetBlue's arrival and all future growth with aggressive investments in security and infrastructure to ensure a secure and efficient service for our customers."

Port Authority Executive Director Kenneth J. Ringler Jr. said, "The $3.8 billion public-private redevelopment program at Newark Liberty International Airport has delivered a host of enhancements, such as AirTrain Newark, new parking garages, and a more efficient roadway system. These improvements were made to maintain Newark Liberty as a premier airport offering world-class customer service. JetBlue Airways' arrival in Newark is more good news for our customers. JetBlue has enjoyed great success at JFK and LaGuardia, and we wish continued success for JetBlue Airways here at Newark Liberty International Airport."
