GOTEBORG, Sweden, Nov. 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Semcon has signed a major service agreement with Volvo Aero. The agreement covers all of Samson's range of services in product development: engineering design, CAE engineering, project management, project methodology and, later on, manufacturing engineering. The agreement will run until 2012. Initially, over 20 consultants from Semcon in Trollhattan and Goteborg will work on assignments for Volvo Aero.
"We have run many assignments for Volvo Aero over the years and we know each other very well. This agreement confirms that Volvo Aero intends to utilise the business advantages generated by our comprehensive range of product development services," says Hans Johansson, CEO of Semcon. "For Semcon the agreement is a key part of our strategy to grow within sectors outside the auto industry, where we currently have a strong position."
"We chose Semcon as our long-term partner because it has a comprehensive range of services in the areas where we need support. It's also strongly committed to being a full-service supplier," says Panos Plegas, technical manager at Volvo Aero.
"We have now produced a plan with Volvo Aero for how we will work together in future and do business that benefits both companies," says Stefan Ohlsson, Vehicle Manager, Semcon. "The agreement with Volvo Aero, and our work with other players in the aeorospace sector, such as Saab AB, Airbus, Rolls Royce and Boeing, strengthen the continuing progress of our activities in this sector."
