HOUSTON, Nov. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice marketer and distributor, today announced that Kathy Oates has been named a vice president of the company. Ms. Oates, who will continue to serve as assistant treasurer, will assume her additional duties effective December 1, 2005.
Ms. Oates joined SYSCO in 1998 as senior director, treasury. In 2000 she was appointed to her current position as assistant treasurer, with responsibilities for SYSCO's worldwide treasury operations including cash management, banking, finance and risk management. Ms. Oates held various financial management positions for 19 years prior to joining SYSCO, including assistant treasurer at Sterling Chemicals, treasury manager at CRSS, Inc. and Weatherford International, and cash manager at Geosource, Inc. She is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and has been active in the Houston Treasury Management Association for more than 20 years, serving on its board from 1996 through 1998. She is also a member of the Women's Foodservice Forum (WFF) and the National Association of Corporate Treasurers (NACT).
Ms. Oates is a native of San Antonio and a graduate of the University of Honolulu, where she earned a bachelor of business administration degree in finance. She is a resident of Houston and has one adult son, Chad, who currently serves in the United States Army.
