Texas Children's 2006 Kids' Fun Run on January 14 Is Open to All Children 5 to 15, Including Those with Special Needs


HOUSTON, Dec. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Texas Children's Hospital has opened registration for its annual Kids' Fun Run to take place on Saturday, January 14th, starting at 9 a.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. The 2006 Kids' Fun Run is a 1.8-mile, non-competitive race that is the kickoff event of Chevron Houston Marathon weekend. The race covers a portion of the actual marathon course, and finishers will have the opportunity to cross the actual marathon finish line.

The run is open to children 5 to 15 (K through 8), including those with special needs. Three races will be held between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Every participant will receive a bronze medal, t-shirt and a ticket to the Chevron Houston Marathon Kids Expo. Parking is free.

Parents may register online at ChevronHoustonMarathon.com. Registrants will be entered into a drawing to win four free round-trip tickets on Continental Airlines, with the drawing to take place on race day.

Texas Children's Hospital is committed to helping prevent childhood obesity. The Fun Run is part of the hospital's "Fun To Be Fit" TM initiative.
