Piccadilly Issues a Call to Action to Atlanta Neighbors

BATON ROUGE, La., Dec. 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Piccadilly Restaurants LLC today announced its second annual canned food drive to benefit the Atlanta Union Mission. Piccadilly Restaurants is calling on its Atlanta neighbors to donate 10,000 cans to the mission this holiday season.

The Atlanta Union Mission serves more than 2,000 meals per day to men, women and children in need and greatly depends on community support and donations. The Mission also offers residential recovery programs, counseling, life skills training, work therapy and spiritual guidance. Piccadilly is inviting the community to please bring a canned food to any of the 20 Atlanta Restaurants. Drop boxes are available at the front of each location

"The Atlanta Union Mission has been serving Atlanta since 1938 and we couldn't continue without the generous donations of local businesses and people," said David Jones, public relations coordinator, Atlanta Union Mission. "We are grateful to Piccadilly for again hosting the canned food drive and will pass the generosity of our neighbors on to those who visit the mission ready to begin a new life based in faith, hope and opportunity."

"The Atlanta Union Mission is a blessing to the city of Atlanta. In a time when so many will be seeking out meals and shelter, we are honored to help make a difference," said Thom Panullo, chief operating officer, Piccadilly Restaurants. "Piccadilly would like to thank everyone who participated in the canned food drive last year and we hope to surpass last year's great success."

In addition to the food drive, Piccadilly has donated hundreds of turkey and ham dinners for Thanksgiving and will donate hundreds more for Christmas. Piccadilly is asking for Atlanta residents and businesses to lend their support to the Atlanta Union Mission this season.
