VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 13, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Braintech, Inc. (OTCBB:BRHI), a leading provider of vision guided robotic, ("VGR") software solutions, announced today that it has received an order from global robotics giant ABB, Inc. for four (4) Evf(tm) runtime licenses. ABB engineers will use these licenses to develop material handling systems for a major North American automaker's engine assembly plant.
These additional four systems will bring the total in this particular engine assembly plant to 22 TrueView(tm) systems. The application involves packing cylinder heads in and out of non-precision dunnage using Braintech's patented Single-Camera 3D(tm) (SC3D(tm)) technology.
Commenting on the additional orders, Owen Jones, CEO of Braintech stated, "This order for eVF runtime licenses signals an important shift in our relationship with ABB. Previously, Braintech also delivered engineering expertise to develop the total solution. Now, eVF has matured to a point where ABB engineers can take over the task of VGR solutions development using eVF. This is great news to the end-user who can rely on ABB to support large numbers of installations on a global basis."
