VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Braintech, Inc. (OTCBB:BRHI), a leading provider of vision guided robotic ("VGR") software solutions, announced today that it has received an order from global robotics giant ABB, Inc. to re-tool ("Soft-Tool") with its eVisionFactory ("eVF") software, an existing TrueView system at a major North American automaker's plant. The order provides funding to train a new engine model allowing for multiple engine types to be assembled on the same production line.
Jerry Osborn, General Manager, ABB Robot Automation stated, "By being able to Soft-Tool a system, rather than re-tooling, costs are dramatically decreased. Without the flexibility of robots and the adaptability of vision, retooling involves extensive replacement of hard automation, tooling and conveyors. In this case, using Braintech's eVF software, we're able to add new jobs to an existing line by training existing TrueView systems to new engine styles."
Commenting on the additional "Soft-Tool" order, Owen Jones, CEO of Braintech says, "We continue to see ways to grow our sales. In the case of Soft-Tool orders, we're receiving re-occurring revenues from previously installed systems."
