Jaakko Pöyry Group strengthens its structural engineering expertise


JP-Kakko Oy, which is part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Forest Industry business group, has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of Salminen & Sorasalmi Oy of Espoo, Finland from its owners, Mr. Simo Salminen and Mr. Juhani Sorasalmi. The company's sales are about EUR 0.7 million and it has a staff of nine. Salminen & Sorasalmi strengthens the structural engineering operations of JP-Kakko and broadens its business in Russia and the Baltic countries.
 
Founded in 1988, Salminen & Sorasalmi specialises in structural engineering of industrial and office buildings particularly in Russia, the Baltic countries and Finland. The company's clients are Finnish as well as international industrial firms. Several major structural engineering projects have been carried out during the past few years in Russia, the Baltic countries and Finland.
 
The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Forest Industry business group operates under the brand name Jaakko Pöyry. Its net sales for 2005 were EUR 200 million. The Forest Industry business group has offices in 17 countries and employs 2100 experts worldwide.
