LENEXA, Kan., Feb. 20, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:MEDW) today announces that Frisbie Memorial Hospital of Rochester, New Hampshire will begin implementation of Mediware's WORx(r) and MediMAR(r) solutions. A regional community hospital serving southern New Hampshire and southern Maine, Frisbie Memorial expects the deployment to improve health outcomes and the quality of patient care delivery.
The implementation will deliver WORx, an industry leading drug-therapy management system created for the clinically focused healthcare enterprise, followed by Mediware's newest product, MediMAR, which serves as an electronic medication administration record. The eMAR solution will replace a standard hardcopy paper record of the Medication Administration Record in use at the patient bedside.
"This automation will allow for a more efficient and effective care process, and a higher level of medication management safety for those giving and receiving care," noted Marcia Montminy, Frisbie Memorial Pharmacy Director. "Our long range plans include the next step in technology innovation with the introduction of MediCOE(tm), a web-based application which offers clinicians an efficient electronic method to enter medication orders and to manage drug therapy from a secure remote location."
A common database for WORx, MediMAR and MediCOE that can be accessed in different ways -- depending on the various needs of patients and providers -- will be key to best practices for all disciplines of the hospital. "Teaming with Mediware and its innovative solutions offers us a great opportunity to promote our initiative of eliminating medication errors through automation safeguards," added Montminy.
"We are delighted to enter into this important partnership with Frisbie Memorial Hospital," stated Mike Crabtree, President of Mediware's Medication Management Division. "Our common goal is to successfully deploy Mediware's medication management products and to improve patient safety as a result."
