Air India Trial Leads Searchlight's Business Triumphs in 2005

TORONTO, Feb. 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Searchlight Solutions (Pink Sheets:SLLN:), a provider of software and services to the legal profession, ended 2005 with confirmation of their efficacy in the courtroom.

The Air India Trial is said to have been the most complex criminal trial in Canadian history, where 331 individual charges of murder were held simultaneously. With literally truckloads of paper information and numerous other forms of media used as evidence, legal teams were overwhelmed with information in a multitude of media formats.

"Our solutions and consulting business has been a huge success for our clientele in almost every sense," said Gary Procknow President, & CEO of Searchlight, "but it was the ability for us to speak openly about our role in the Air India Trial that has brought us into the limelight."

Searchlight used their proprietary software to digitize and organize the vast numbers of documents used in the trial. "Our document management software was used to review documents and prepare the defense of the case. We were able to separate the 'water from the mud' so that our clients could quickly and efficiently identify details that others could not see in the context required," said Procknow.

In the Air India Trial, the defense won the case. The defense used Searchlight's software and other service solutions.

The court has recently ordered the use of Searchlight's technology and services by the legal teams in the Hollinger case, which has Sir Conrad Black on the front page of the papers both in Canada and in the United States. The court in the Hollinger case will see hundreds of thousands of documents. Recognizing the need for these documents to be organized digitally, prepared properly and seamlessly, to both speed the case along, save enormous amounts of money and ultimately produce a more complete picture of events for decisions to be based on was the basis for the ordered use of Searchlight.

2005 also saw Searchlight's services and software enter the broadly expanding area of corporate compliance.

Recent work with the BC Securities Commission, the U.S. Air Force and the Washington State DFI just scratch the surface into some of the work that Searchlight does outside of specific litigation.

Technology is becoming an enormous asset to companies and their overseers concerning compliance issues and Searchlight has expanded quickly into this area with their unique services and proprietary software. The corporate compliance climate in the United States has changed the playing field for nearly every public and private company. Searchlight now implements an information management component of accountability from various types of documents, paper, digital, and video systems into one seamless source, allowing companies to manage their compliance issues in a more cost effective, and efficient manner.

"The costs associated with performing compliance operations are overwhelming to many corporations," said Vice President, Tish Hill, "only overshadowed by the costs of NOT performing them properly."
