STOCK COMMENTARY FROM STOCKPICKREPORT:

Here is the truth: Commercial TV channels are profit-driven. They don't make money unless advertisers buy ad space. Advertisers don't buy ad space unless viewers watch the channel. Viewers don't watch boring TV. So, guess what the commercial "financial" channels do? They use all the tactics of a casino to hold your interest long enough to justify to advertisers their ad rates.

"Hold on," you say. "I get all kinds of great information from (insert commercial financial network)!" Really? Like what? What trade did you make based on information gleaned from the commercial TV channel? How much money did it put in your pocket? More importantly, was that information unavailable to you from a different, less "emotional" source?

With made-up non-events like "Fed watch", "earnings season", or "warnings season", the networks have found a way to hold viewers glued to the screen each day. Oh, let's not forget the "mid-day call", or "pre-market reports", or the all-important "closing bell".

And, what about the "teaser" questions (Questions geared to keep you glued to that tv set until the earth-shattering answer is revealed in "the next segment") You know, questions like "What about bonds?" or "Where will the Dow go next year?" or "When will the Nasdaq turn higher?" Blah, blah, blah...

Look, it's all hogwash. The market is slow-going. It's not "fast paced". It's not "exciting". It's business. It's not a game show or video-poker. Analysts are, by their nature, not exciting folks. They are number-crunchers.

Take out the "from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange" reports, "Nasdaq market site" updates, streaming quotes, emotional music, and "celebrities", and you have a BORING set of numbers. If you must keep the TV on, we suggest you watch it after the close, or before the open. Trades should be made based on logic, not emotion.

TV networks want you to be EMOTIONAL, and we don't think that's good for a trader's portfolio. Now, see if you can turn if off for one week. If you can't we suggest that the advertisers and networks have done a great job -- on your emotions.
