Flo Healthcare Awarded New Patent for Mobile Clinical Workstation

New Patent Further Cements Flo Healthcare's Place as an Innovator in Wireless Solutions for Healthcare

NORCROSS, Ga., March 15, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Flo Healthcare, the leading designer of comprehensive, integrated wireless solutions for the healthcare market, further strengthened its position as an innovator in the healthcare industry today when it announced the award of another patent from the U.S. Patent Office.

U.S. Patent No. 7,009,840 (the '840 Patent) is entitled "Mobile Clinical Workstation" and relates generally to a cart-based mobile computing system, commonly known as a computer on wheels. The '840 Patent strengthens Flo's intellectual property portfolio and supports its strategy of creating value through technology innovation.

Flo Healthcare develops technology for cart-based systems for clinical applications, which enable medical facilities to enhance patient safety and realize the full benefits of clinical applications through the use of point-of-care devices.

Not only does this utility patent cover the use of a cart-based mobile computer with a medical device, but it also extends Flo Healthcare's current coverage of many of the essential, user-driven features of the cart-based form factor in a mobile workstation: a flat panel display and a work surface as part of a system, a computer and power supply, and a wireless connection to a local area network through 802.11 technology. This new patent also broadens Flo's coverage of mobile workstations with a tiltable docking station. This broadened language opens Flo's options for variations in visual display, such as tablets PC's and thin client tablets.

"This new patent award is further testimony to Flo Healthcare's long history of increasing shareholder value through our intellectual property portfolio and reflects our commitment to technology innovation and leadership of mobile devices and wireless technology," said Keith Washington, Flo Healthcare Vice President of Business Development. "The patent also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving clinical processes and the elimination of medical errors through the use of cart-based mobile technology."

The Mobile Clinical Workstation invention of U.S. Patent No. 7,009,840 resulted from extensive research and product development to combine ergonomics and technology integration. As a result of Flo's innovation, its products have been widely adopted in today's marketplace. Flo Healthcare continues to expand the use of this patented technology through the sale of mobile workstations in the healthcare market and through licensing programs to select original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of mobile devices for a range of applications.
