Inman Park Spring Festival and Tour of Homes -- Atlanta, GA April 28-30, 2006

ATLANTA, March 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Atlanta's eclectic and revered Inman Park Spring Festival is back again for its 35th year, Friday April 28 through Sunday April 30, offering food, music, fun, one of the city's largest street markets, and its most outrageous parade -- selected as the Best Neighborhood Parade by Atlanta Magazine.

Mark your calendar . . . this is Atlanta's best block party! Don't miss it!

The festival's home tour includes residences that range from the classic Victorian-era treasures to commercial-into-residential renovations to stunning modern lofts. Visit our virtual home tour at www.inmanpark.org/fest2006.php for a preview.

In addition to the Tour of Homes, Saturday's quirky and colorful parade promises to delight onlookers. The Inman Park Butterfly will lead the parade, followed by floats, clowns, jugglers, and the legendary Kelly's Seed and Feed Marching Abominables. This year's parade Grand Marshal is Dianne Harnell Cohen, commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs for the City of Atlanta. The parade will also feature an appearance by the nation's revered landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, genius behind some of Atlanta's most beautiful green spaces.

Live Entertainment has expanded this year to include three performance venues, offering all styles and genres of music -- swing, jazz, folk, bluegrass, and world music. Visit the website for a complete band listing. The festival also hosts the Inman Park Dance Festival at the historic Trolley Barn on Edgewood Ave. This event is the only free admission dance festival in Georgia to feature both classical and contemporary concert dance.

Admission to all events is FREE. Tour of Homes tickets are available for purchase over the Internet for $15 in advance, or $20 during the tour. To buy tickets online, visit www.inmanpark.org/fest2006.php.

About the Inman Park Spring Festival:

The Festival is sponsored by the Inman Park Neighborhood Association (IPNA) - the non-profit association established in the early 1970s to raise funds for local schools, theaters, and to contribute to the development of Atlanta's Freedom Park, along with neighborhood improvements and beautification projects. Founded in 1889, just two miles from downtown Atlanta, historic Inman Park is the city's oldest suburb. After periods of decline culminating in the 1950s, Inman Park was restored by a group of dedicated residents, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
