Genex Technologies Provides 3-D Camera Technology to SaferKidz Program to Expand 'Amber Alert' Concept

Pilot Program to Expand on 'Amber Alert' Concept by Creating National Database of 3-D Images of Missing Children

BOSTON, May 1, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Technest Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:TCNH), a defense and homeland security company, announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Genex Technologies, Inc., www.genextech.com, has partnered with SaferKidz, www.saferkidz.net, to create a database of 3-D images that will provide law enforcement agencies with a profile of real-time identification and biographical information in the event a child is reported missing.

The SaferKidz program involves cutting-edge technology that incorporates 3-D images of children, as well as key biographical data supplied by parents. These data profiles are stored in a database and retrieved by authorities in the case that a child goes missing. Genex will provide its state-of-the-art 3D Camera Imaging System to create the integral 3-D images of the child for these profiles. When a child goes missing, authorities will no longer have to base their search on inadequate photos or sketch drawings, but will instead be able to instantly view extremely accurate 3-D modeled images of the missing child.

The initial pilot program began last month in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, during the base's official "Month of the Military Child." During the month, Genex's 3-D cameras have been set up at computer terminals on the base to create SaferKidz profiles for every child whose parents would like to participate. Estimates are that up to 20,000 children could be added to the database during the period of the pilot program.

"The advanced 3-D Camera Imaging System provides very accurate 3-D profiles of children and is designed to provide next-generation identification abilities," said Dr. Joe Mackin, CEO/President of Technest. "We are very excited about our role in this extraordinary effort by the SaferKidz program organizers, and we look forward to expanding the program across the country and enhancing the efforts of law enforcement officials in cases involving missing children.

"With Genex onboard with the pilot program, it was the final element needed to create the next generation of child protection/alert services," said Lawrence Shrank, founder of SaferKidz. "The most critical period in the event of a missing child is the first few hours. The ability to quickly deliver highly accurate, comprehensive identity information to key outlets including law enforcement, media and the general public using the 3-D Imaging System is a major advancement unlike any other. As we have demonstrated this innovative 3-D modeling system for the past month at Fort Bragg, we hope to show both local and federal law enforcement officials that this technology is the next evolution of the 'Amber Alert,' one that they will be able to implement with even greater effectiveness."

With support for the program expected to grow considerably in upcoming months, SaferKidz and Genex hope to use the pilot program as the basis for a much broader program that will extend nationwide.
