FLSmidth wins contract for major upgrading project

The contract was signed with Abyek Cement Company in Iran, which is owned by Fars & Khuzestan Cement Company. The scope of the contract includes a raw grinding plant featuring an ATOX 52.5 raw mill, ILC preheater technology, an SF Cross-Bar cooler, electrostatic precipitators and a complete control and monitoring system.

The upgrading of the production line corresponds to a similar project which FLSmidth successfully carried out for a Polish customer.

One of the largest of its kind to be contracted by FLSmidth, the upgrading project involves a pyro system originally supplied by a competing company in the 1980's. The contract will play a significant role in strengthening FLSmidth's current focus on modernisation projects for existing cement plants.

"The international cement industry is currently in great demand for expansion and modernisation of its existing production capacity. This is an area in which we have great experience, so we have high hopes for this market segment in the coming years. We also consider sales of expert knowhow and services such as training, process expertise and operational and maintenance services a large potential market", Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen says.

The order will contribute beneficially to FLSmidth's earnings until the plant is commissioned in 2008.
