MPO opts for Stora Enso DBS Discbox Slider
MPO, a leading company and a pioneer in the pre-recorded media, has chosen to add the Stora Enso DBS Discbox Slider case to its range. MPO will start producing DBS DVD and DBS CD cases in Averton, France, using automated state-of-the-art packaging machines supplied by Stora Enso.
With its 1,300 employees and four production sites in Europe and Asia, the MPO Group has an annual production capacity of 375 million CDs and 225 million DVDs. The company has its own printing facilities and packaging services, now including the unique DBS Discbox Slider solution provided by Stora Enso.
"Being the first pre-recorded media company to offer the novel, cartonboard-based DBS DVD case on the market helps us to maintain MPO's role as the leading pioneer in the industry," says Alban Pingeot, Development Director of MPO.
Superb cartonboard option
The DBS Discbox Slider cases are made from Stora Enso's high-quality cartonboard. The product family comprises three distinct CD and DVD packaging options. The DBS CD case can hold one or two discs and a booklet. The DBS DVD case can hold from one to three discs and a 5 mm thick booklet, while its DVD Slim version can contain one disc plus a booklet.
"DBS is a new packaging concept that will allow MPO clients, mainly Home Entertainment editors, to position a new product range on a new price level. We think that all the Home Entertainment business, including music, games and video, will be interested in this package. The main advantage of DBS is that it is a 100% cardboard package, unlike its biggest rival products. It is better for creativity and appears as an attractive and original package, at an attractive price," Pingeot says.
All DBS formats from one source
The automated DBS packaging machinery offers production capacity and efficiency for high volumes. The production and filling of DBS DVD cases is conducted on the completely new, fully automatic DBS FF-80 system, which ensures cost-effective, easy and trouble-free production at competitive speed. The DBS CD cases are manufactured on DBS Pac Master, which is a fully automatic system for forming and filling the DBS CD case.
To produce all DBS case types, both DBS FF-80 and Pac Master machines have been installed at MPO's premises in Averton, France. DBS fulfilment service is also provided and marketed by Stora Enso Media Solutions.
