LENEXA, Kan., Oct. 18, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mediware Information Systems (Nasdaq:MEDW) announced that a subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare Corporation has licensed Mediware's HCLL Transfusion software to support blood bank services in four of its acute care hospitals in Florida. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) is based in Dallas, Texas, and through its subsidiaries, owns and operates 66 acute care hospitals in 12 states. The facilities included in this license represent more than 1500 beds in South Florida and will enable blood bank staff across the state to implement robust processes that improve efficiencies, decrease waste and increase patient safety. The four facilities include:
-- Florida Medical Center, part of Tenet's Miami-Dade/Broward
Health Network, is a 459-bed acute care hospital located in
Fort Lauderdale. The medical center is a center of excellence
for cardiology and bariatrics and offers a variety of services,
including orthopedics, neurology, urology, a dedicated stroke
center and a new women's health center.
-- North Ridge Medical Center, a 332-bed acute care hospital in
Fort Lauderdale, has been providing services through its
Cardiac & Vascular Institute for over 30 years. North Ridge
Medical Center also offers a wide array of award-winning care
focusing on medical, surgical, orthopedic and neurosurgery.
-- Good Samaritan Medical Center, in West Palm Beach, FL, is a
333-bed acute care facility that is celebrating its
85th Anniversary of providing healthcare to the region.
-- St. Mary's Medical Center, also located in West Palm Beach, is
a 460-bed acute care hospital offering medical, surgical,
obstetrical, pediatric, orthopedic and emergency services.
HCLL(tm) Transfusion software is a next-generation transfusion management system and a key component of Mediware's blood management suite. HCLL manages blood products administered to patients at hospitals and centralized transfusion service facilities and automates processes to improve efficiencies and decrease waste.
