Photo Release -- PHA Appoints Kay Adams Cruise Line Sales and Marketing Manager


HOUSTON, Nov. 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Port of Houston Authority (PHA) has announced the appointment of Kay Adams as Cruise Line Sales and Marketing Manager in the Operations Division. Her principle responsibilities will be to negotiate contracts with cruise lines, oversee operations at Barbours Cut and Bayport Cruise Terminals as well as develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for the new Bayport Cruise Terminal.

"With the expanding cruise embarkation market in Texas, the PHA will be able to handle the demand from consumers and Kay brings a notable level of experience in this arena," said Wade Battles, PHA managing director. "I am confident that she will be effective while taking on this role."

A native of Venezuela, Adams brings a rich and varied background to the position. Her cruise industry experience includes being Texas' District Sales and Business Development Manager for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Her legal career includes working in criminal and civil defense for Attorneys Olney Wallis and Richard "Racehorse" Haynes & Associates. Prior to joining the PHA, Ms. Adams was General Counsel for Covington Adams Development Group, LLC.

Adams is a graduate of the University of North Texas and the University of Houston Law Center. She is actively involved in promoting Houston through her participation in various fundraising organizations, including one of her favorites, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
