OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scantron Service Group, a leading provider of computer hardware maintenance and network design and support, has received second place in the BlackBerry(r) 2006 Corporate Application Awards. Scantron Service Group was recognized for its Mobile Service Delivery package, which enables their 170 Field Service Technicians to respond quickly to hardware service requests made by their customers.
Scantron created an application on the BlackBerry platform that quickly gets tickets out to the Field Service Technicians, and then returns ticket processing information, allowing critical information to be exchanged in real time ensuring the best possible service for the customer. Integrating into their back-end AS400 and DB2/400 CRM data and application, the Mobile Service Delivery makes use of the push-based BlackBerry architecture and is optimized to be "light weight" over wireless networks.
"We're pleased to receive such recognition from RIM," said Dave Conway, president of Scantron Service Group. "With the Java(tm) application we developed for BlackBerry, we ensure our Field Service Technicians are able to receive service requests in a timely manner, report back with accuracy and speed, as well as provide efficient service to our customers."
"Enterprise customers are increasingly recognizing the opportunity for competitive advantage through mobile applications," said Jeff McDowell, vice president, Global Alliances at Research In Motion. "We are pleased to recognize Scantron Service Group for creating a BlackBerry-based solution that delivers enhanced productivity and improved customer responsiveness for their field service teams."
The BlackBerry(r) Corporate Application Awards are open to BlackBerry customers who have developed in-house applications to increase their mobile workers' productivity. More information about the awards are available at: www.blackberry.com/developers/awards/index.shtml
