Kentucky Libraries Unite to Offer Patrons Free Media Downloads

Check-Out Digital Audio Books, eBooks, Music, and Videos Without Ever Leaving Home

UNION, KY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 27, 2006 -- Kentucky library patrons can now download free digital media to their personal computer for use on a PDA, MP3 player, and even some mobile phones.

Thirteen libraries have partnered with OverDrive, Inc. as the Kentucky Libraries Unbound Consortium to provide patrons 24/7 access to a growing collection of digital audio books, eBooks, music, and video. At the end of the 21 day lending period, digital check-outs are automatically returned to the library's catalog. With automatic check-in, patrons never accrue late fees on digital titles.

Audio books include titles by Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Alexander McCall Smith, Diana Gabaldon, and other best selling authors. The popular Pimsleur Language Program is also available. In addition to digital books, music and video are featured in the digital collection. Users can check-out the Academy Award nominated IMAX movie, "The Living Sea," featuring music by Sting, and "The Globe Trekker" adventure travel series which explores vacation destinations around the world.

Getting started is easy! Patrons can visit the digital website, http://kyunbound.lib.overdrive.com/, install the free media software, browse the collection, and add titles to their eCart. To complete the check out process, simply enter a valid library card and pin number and download the digital media to a personal computer. When the download process is complete, titles can be enjoyed on a PC or transferred to any compatible WMA/WMV device.
