ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 29, 2007 -- New Year's Resolutions may appear alive and
well, but according to a John Hopkins University Study, 93.8 percent will
be dropped by the end of January. In support of keeping resolution
enthusiasts on the road to healthier lifestyles, Doc Green's Salads & Grill
is pleased to introduce an expanded menu this month. Formerly Doc Green's
Gourmet Salads, Doc Green's Salads & Grill has adopted its new moniker to
reflect its additional menu options, which include signature salads and
fire-grilled choices to make it easy to build a healthy eating regime for
lunch and dinner.
Set in a feel-good environment that emphasizes its healthful fare, Doc
Green's serves more than nine million made-to-order salad combinations that
offer consumers choices on fresh greens and flavorful toppings such as
candied walnuts, avocados, roasted red peppers, sliced egg along with any
one of 11 artfully seasoned dressings. Released as a test in select
markets, the new menu is already receiving increased enthusiasm and store
traffic, making Doc Green's one of the most unique, healthy fast-casual
restaurant concepts in the country. To expand their salad palette, guests
can top their salad from Doc's fire grill with a cut of sirloin steak,
salmon, chicken breast or even portabella mushroom.
Small Steps for Keeping Healthy Resolutions
While most resolutions fail because consumers set lofty goals, experts say
"focus on realistic goals with measurable results," explains Jill
RachBeisel, M.D., director of community psychiatry at the University of
Maryland Medical Center. "You need to break things down into small steps
that you can manage."
"We are excited to have a brand that is being recognized by a growing
customer base as an inviting, healthy, fresh destination where
health-minded people come to dine and gather with friends," explains Carl
Griffenkranz, vice president of operations and brand leader for Doc
Green's. "For too long, people have talked about 'having a salad' as if
it's a poor substitute for what they really want. Doc Green's is changing
that notion -- by creating a made-to-order fresh salad experience, topped
with a fire-grilled generous portion of fish, steak, chicken or vegetables
like a Portabella mushroom. We see Doc Green's as the destination for
healthy people and people who aspire to be healthier."
Doc Green's has expanded its offering of signature salads to 10 including
the new Dr. Grilled Veggie salad. For the portability conscious, Doc
Green's offers a variety of wraps including the Thai Chicken Wrap and
Grilled Buffalo Chicken Caesar. Additionally, all salads at Doc Green's,
signature or custom, can be made into a wrap. Panini sandwiches, hot
entrée options, soups and side dishes round out the fresh menu.
"We have updated the name of Doc Green's to better represent the scope of
new menu items we now offer," states Griffenkranz. "We will always be best
known for our delicious salad options, but wanted to express to consumers
they can select from many of the same healthy ingredients to be served as a
hot entrée, Panini sandwich or wrap."
