OverDrive to Enhance Audio Books With AudioFile Reviews
| Source: OverDrive
CLEVELAND, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 30, 2007 -- OverDrive®, the leader in digital media
content distribution for libraries, announced today an agreement to provide
audio book reviews from AudioFile magazine as a value-add option in its
Digital Library Reserve® service offering. AudioFile is the leading
publication for audio book information and reviews.
AudioFile will make available its 20,000 audio book reviews of titles in a
variety of
categories -- including popular fiction -- to more than 4,000 public
libraries who are members of OverDrive's Digital Library Reserve network.
The reviews will be included in the audio book's title listing for member
libraries that subscribe to the new service. Digital Library Reserve, a
web-based digital media service, provides patrons of member libraries the
ability to download popular digital audio books, as well as eBooks, music,
video and (coming soon) games & interactive software. OverDrive offers
more than 50,000 downloadable titles in a variety of popular formats.
For an example of an AudioFile review in a Digital Library Reserve member
library, go to http://dlc.clevnet.org/sampleaudiofile. To see if your
library is a member of OverDrive's network, and to find other titles of
eBooks, audio books, music, videos and games available from public
libraries, go to www.overdrive.com/search.
"As the comprehensive source on audio book reviews, AudioFile reviews
hundreds of popular audio books each month, including New York Times best
sellers," said Robin Whitten, Editor and Founder of AudioFile. "Our
reviews are a valuable aid for patrons and librarians to select and enjoy
many of the audio books that are currently available in OverDrive's library
network and that are being added daily."
"Having worked closely with the library market for the past several years,
we know librarians are always on the lookout for information that can
facilitate patrons selecting materials for checkout, not to mention their
own collection development process," said Amy Dankowski, manager of partner
services for OverDrive. "AudioFile reviews bring an insightful assessment
of the audio book -- especially the audio presentation -- and these will be
a welcome assistance for our growing market of audio book readers."
