IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), continues to extend its industrial device server product line with the announcement of the XPress(tm)-I/O, the first ruggedized digital input/output (I/O) device server with enterprise-grade security and event-based email notification capabilities. The XPress-I/O provides the ability to actively monitor, configure and control equipment in a variety of applications over IP networks or the Internet. In addition to continuous monitoring, the XPress-I/O uniquely enables customers to receive real-time email alerts related to major device events, such as device failure, intrusion and environmental sensor alarms. As a result, customers can preemptively diagnose and resolve device issues faster using standard industrial hardware and software applications.
"With the XPress-I/O, industrial customers can now quickly identify equipment issues before they become problems," said Chris Preston, senior vice president of marketing for Lantronix. "Managing these types of applications require a solution that delivers enterprise-grade security and powerful event monitoring. Once customers are notified of a major equipment event, they can take action immediately from anywhere in the world and substantially reduce risk and support costs. With the XPress-I/O, we continue to demonstrate our strong commitment to the industrial device networking marketplace and now open up a new class of compelling applications for our customers."
Powered by the Lantronix award-winning Evolution OS(tm), the XPress-I/O provides enterprise-grade security and Web-based management, using Extensible Markup Language (XML) for configuration support, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) for monitoring and e-mail capabilities. The XPress-I/O protects devices from intrusion and secures associated data by using key security protocols including: AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), SSH (Secure Shell), and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This makes the XPress-I/O ideal for use in mission critical or environmentally sensitive industrial equipment applications, such as water pumps, drives, alarms, valves, fans, lights, motors, machine starters and building security devices. As more industrial equipment is added to corporate IT networks, the XPress-I/O streamlines this integration with standard Web browser and email support.
Industrial customers can also use the XPress-I/O as a Modbus/TCP Slave, or as a Modbus Bridge. The Modbus/TCP Slave and digital I/Os allow for attached industrial sensors to be remotely monitored and controlled using standard industrial control software and hardware such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. To extend the utility and lifespan of existing device assets, the Modbus Bridge enables customers to connect legacy Modbus/RTU or Modbus/ASCII industrial equipment to a Modbus/TCP network.
Ideal for use in harsh environments, the XPress-I/O is a ruggedized device server, suitable for operating within a wide-temperature range of -40 degrees C to +70 degrees C and tested for shock and vibration. Its digital inputs detect equipment events via attached discrete digital sensors that provide on/off state information. The digital outputs and relay operate as a switch and can be used to trigger alarms or turn devices on/off. In addition, customers can use the intuitive Web interface embedded within the XPress-I/O to remotely reboot a device or switch to a backup. To support other applications, the XPress-I/O can be used as a standard secure device server to connect, manage and control almost any type of equipment with a serial port over Ethernet or the Internet.
XPress-I/O is now available worldwide through Lantronix channel and other sales partners at $295.00 (MSRP). For more information, please visit www.lantronix.com.
