COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- RIMOWA increased its turnover to 57 million Euros in fiscal year 2006. This represents an increase of almost 25% compared to fiscal year 2005. The growth trend of the past few years is continuing with increasing sales figures at home and abroad. RIMOWA is the only luggage manufacturer that still produces the majority of its products in Germany at the company's headquarters in Cologne.
"In addition to good figures in our traditional markets, we are experiencing higher than average growth in Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea," reports Dieter Morszeck, Managing Director of RIMOWA GmbH. "We are especially pleased that we were able to increase our growth in the U.S. by 85 per cent last year. That reinforces our long-term goal of becoming the world's market leader in the premium luggage segment."
RIMOWA GmbH also expects significant growth for fiscal year 2007. "Our new TANGO line was awarded the 'Innovation Prize' by the Mipel in Milan. Since its founding in 1962, Mipel has been one of the leading international trade shows for leather goods," Dieter Morszeck says. "What's more, Pro-K, the German industry association for semi-finished and consumer products made of plastic, honoured TANGO with the award 'Product of the Year 2007' in the Leisure category. This shows that we are on the right path with our development of new and innovative products."
