AlliedBarton Security Services Assists Chemical and Petrochemical Industry With New Federal Security Regulations

AlliedBarton Forms Chemical Petrochemical Security Alliance

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 20, 2007 -- AlliedBarton Security Services, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, is assisting the chemical and petrochemical industry with security programs needed to comply with pending new Federal security regulations. Led by Scott R. Gane, CPP, who has an extensive background in the protection and safety of nuclear and industrial facilities, AlliedBarton is working to ensure these highly sensitive sites are in compliance with the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards. CFATS, enacted by Section 550 of the Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2007, will be published in the Federal Register on April 4, 2007 authorizing the implementation of risk-based performance standards for the nation's high-risk chemical facilities.

"New Federal regulations will require that chemical and petrochemical industries take a critical look at the methodology in place to secure their facilities," said Scott R. Gane, CPP, Vice President -- Chemical/Petrochemical Security, AlliedBarton Security Services. "Many companies are facing security regulations for the first time while others are already in compliance with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations developed in 2002. As the rulemaking process evolves, AlliedBarton is prepared to continue working with our clients to assist them in recognizing, understanding and addressing security requirements. We have always conducted security reviews for our clients, and our chemical/petrochemical industry clients are reassured knowing we can continue conducting reviews and developing security programs that will also meet federal standards."

To ensure that vital information is shared and strategic relationships are forged, AlliedBarton formed the Chemical Petrochemical Security Alliance (CPSA) which consists of the United States' top chemical and petrochemical security consulting companies as well as key industry leaders including a former USCG Captain of the Port from a major East Coast city. The wide range of security services provided through the CPSA members benefits chemical and petrochemical companies as it provides a single source to address all of their security and safety needs.

"AlliedBarton has a long history of serving companies in the petrochemical and chemical sector. As a result of this new government regulation and input from our clients, we developed specialized training that includes five levels customized to meet facility-specific needs," said Gane. "We have the best-trained and best-prepared security officers and supervisory personnel. The AlliedBarton Chemical Petrochemical Security Officer and Chemical Petrochemical Security Supervisor (CPSS) certifications include highly specialized courses and curriculum that ensure our client facilities are safer, more secure and less vulnerable."

AlliedBarton's Chemical/Petrochemical 5-level security officer and supervisor training and certification program encompasses a range of topics designed specifically for the security challenges of these highly sensitive sites including vehicle bomb inspection techniques, MARSEC, CFATS procedures, and extensive safety training.

"The new Federal regulations will require multi-layered security programs," Gane added. "Protecting our nations' assets requires the development and implementation of comprehensive security plans, including site-specific safety compliance and enforcement measures and performance of audits at designated intervals. Ensuring the overall effectiveness of physical security measures already in place including perimeter protection and access control is of paramount importance."
