BEDFORD, Mass., March 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Collax unveiled updates to each of its server solutions, now Collax Business Server 4.1.0, Collax Security Gateway 4.2.0 and Collax Open-Xchange Server 5.1.0 respectively.
All solutions will run on the 2.6 kernel, guaranteeing stability, security and scalability. In addition, directory-, e-mail-, web-proxy-, file- and FTP-servers have been updated in the new versions. The use of AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) enables Collax to provide improved software ergonomics. Configuration and administration of the solutions, which are being developed specifically for small and medium businesses (SMBs) is thus not only significantly simplified, but also drastically accelerated.
"For this upgrade, we updated nearly every component in our products. In some cases it meant a complete replacement, including of the core," said Boris Nalbach, Collax CEO. "Despite this major overall, we've stuck by our 'Simply Linux' motto so our customers will not notice a difference in service. They are only required to reboot - nothing else."
Product Innovations
Improved scalability and expanded hardware support are central to the solution-wide updates, including the new 2.6 kernel and improvements to the LDAP directory, the mail-, web-proxy-, file- and FTP servers.
In the new versions, the browser-based user interface, via which all Collax solutions are set-up and maintained, runs on AJAX technology. This improves software ergonomics and shortens installation times by ensuring faster processing of inquiries to the server.
Availability
The new server solutions, Collax Business Server 4.1.0, Collax Security Gateway 4.1.0 and Collax Open-Xchange Server 5.1.0, will be available beginning in April.
