MOSCOW, April 3, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- NUCON-RF, Inc. (Pink Sheets:NNRF) today said that it has received certification authorizing the sale of NuCap(tm) in the Russian Federation. The certification process was initiated in November 2006. The certification includes a certificate of the production facility, an ecological certificate and the recommendations for certification from the Laboratory of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation-Institute of Physics and Power Engineering and the scientific research laboratory VNNINM.
NUCON-RF has previously received customs clearance for the import of NuCap(tm) nuclear radiation shielding material into the Russian Federation under the Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature (FEACN) No. 3214101000.
NUCON-RF holds an exclusive agent license for NuCap(tm) in the Russian Federation and other CIS countries from Global Matrechs, Inc., which has the geopolymer NuCap(tm) manufactured at Dow Corning. NUCON-RF will now place an initial order with Global Matrechs for sufficient base materials to proceed with further engineering and testing of various types and forms of applications. NUCON-RF was previously prevented from proceeding with these engineering studies until it received the certification to sell NuCap(tm) in the Russian Federation.
NuCap(tm) applications are to be engineered and evaluated by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "SevRAO" (Decommissioning of Nuclear Vessels in Northwestern Russia) and "DalRAO" (Decommissioning of Nuclear Vessels in Far East Russia). Each of these entities intends to focus on the encapsulation and protection of corroding iron drums containing radioactive wastes and the stabilization and encapsulation of reservoirs with toxic wastes. The wastes are put into the NuCap(tm) matrix for long term storage.
NUCON-RF has an internal working group assigned to the marketing of NuCap(tm). This group has identified multiple uses and applications for NuCap(tm) in conjunction with decommissioning, shielding and disposal issues and has been conducting meetings with various Russian government engineering and design enterprises and government agencies during the import and certification processes.
During the certification and import approval processes, new applications have been developed which include next generation toxic and LLW/ILW containers utilizing NuCap(tm) as a damping agent.
NUCON-RF efforts include: International Project Management Units working in the North-West Region of Russia for technical application of the materials and application engineering equipment to implement remediation, decommissioning and disposal projects for nuclear submarine compartments and their reactor units; the coating of corroded waste drums; and cooperation with operators of nuclear power plants in the Russian Federation, CIS countries and the European Union to insure emergency control for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
