AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch

IRVING, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 13, 2007 -- Motorists in Texas and across the U.S. are seeing sharp increases at the gas pump for the tenth week in a row, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

El Paso rose ten cents to have the highest gas average this week at $2.77 a gallon. San Antonio and Corpus Christi tie for the lowest average at $2.62 a gallon -- both cities posted weekly increases of 12 cents.

"According to the U.S. Department of Energy, gasoline inventories have been weak for several weeks and demand continues to be up," said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. "If both indicators remain, prices will more likely continue to go up as well."

The national average is $2.81 a gallon -- up ten cents. AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline in Texas.
