Buffalo Announces the First 3TB NAS of Its Kind

Addressing the Growing Need for More Digital Storage Space, the Company's New Mega-Capacity TeraStation Live and TeraStation Pro II Deliver Consumers and SMBs Unparalleled Performance, Features and Price

AUSTIN, Texas, May 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced the 3TB version of its high performance consumer and SMB NAS devices -- the TeraStation Live (HS-DH3.0TGL/R5) and the TeraStation Pro II (TS-H3.0TGL/R5). The TeraStation Live is the first 3TB NAS device designed with the consumer in mind. The TeraStation Pro II is designed for businesses that want a cost-effective, high-performance, NAS solution, which delivers superior reliability and usability. The products are already available in capacities of 1TB and 2TB.

The TeraStation Live and TeraStation Pro II are the industry's fastest single NAS devices in its class on the market today that include a high-speed processor for ultra-fast data transfer rates of up to 38 MB/s which is comparable to a USB 2.0 hard drive.

"We have witnessed some significant trends in both the consumer and business markets. Consumers are going beyond having an individual system in their homes to having a full-blown network. Businesses, on the other hand, are deploying more complex networks," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global sales and marketing at Buffalo Technology. "Both of these markets demand innovative, flexible, and cost-effective storage solutions. The new 3TB TeraStation devices meet this demand, and as our customers' needs evolve, the products can evolve with them."

TeraStation Live

The TeraStation Live allows consumers to instantly store, access, backup and share multimedia and other files from any computer on their home. It can be used as an iTunes(tm) server, which allows iTunes 7 software to access music stored on the devices. The products also now include the ability to store photos and videos directly from a digital camera. It is designed to DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) guidelines so customers can access videos, photos or music stored on them and play it back on any device designed to DLNA guidelines in the home.

TeraStation Pro II

Designed for the SOHO or SMB, the TeraStation Pro II includes UPS compatibility to allow the product to power-down safely and prevent power failure. Additionally, the product offers minimal power consumption, and administrators can set group or user-level security for added safety. The TeraStation Pro II also includes SATA (Serial ATA) hard disk drives for enhanced data transfer speeds and Active Directory Support, which allows the device to utilize domain users and groups.

Both devices are Windows(tm) and Macintosh(tm) compatible. They both also feature two USB 2.0 ports to accommodate additional external USB hard drives for expanded networked storage or backup targets. Both feature a 10/100/1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet port and Gigabit Jumbo Frame capability for higher transfer speeds than standard Gigabit networks. They also include four hard drives and five operational modes: RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10. The TeraStation Pro II features an advanced RAID system, which continually checks hard drive performance. For additional data protection, the TeraStation Live and TeraStation Pro II includes Memeo(tm) Autobackup(tm) multi-language backup software for Windows, which runs in the background and automatically backs up files from your PC.
