CALGARY, Alberta, May 14, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Clean Power Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:CPWE) (Frankfurt:XETRA:C1L) (www.cleanpowertech.co.uk), a developer of a unique and environmentally friendly alternative hybrid power technology, is pleased to inform investors and the investment community that it has received the delivery of the steam accumulator, a key component in the company's hybrid power/engine development.
The Steam Accumulator is the result of the Collaboration with the international engineering company Doosan Babcock Energy Limited (www.doosanbabcock.com), this agreement was announced November 01, 2006 and development began shortly thereafter. Innovation, determination and commercial aptitude have made Doosan Babcock Energy Limited the leader in steam generating technologies for over a hundred years and provided for the efficient and timely development of Clean Power's steam accumulator.
"Our Steam Accumulator is revolutionary; this is the first of a new generation of energy efficient storage systems that will faithfully recover the otherwise wasted energy from a conventional internal combustion engine. The combination of Clean Power's exceptional intellectual property and the technical expertise of Doosan Babcock has provided for the unprecedented speed in which our steam accumulator was developed and is now a reality. Clean Power will be able to continue its rapid deployment and commercialization of this unique technology," said Abdul Mitha, President and CEO of Clean Power.
Intensive testing and implementation of the accumulator will begin immediately to test the CESAR process technology, whereby steam is created stored and re-used to drive a Gasoline / Diesel Steam hybrid vehicle. Clean Power has designed what will eventually become the first heat recovery system that will be used within a passenger vehicle. With the accumulator now in hand, Clean Power will be able to expand the development process and proceed with the design and execution of a specialised control system for the technology. Mr. Mitha further stated, "Initial tests and analysis of the Steam Accumulator will begin immediately and Clean Power's hybrid technology will be installed and tested in our donor vehicle, a Mazda RX8, within the next 12 months. The steam accumulator is a vital component of our hybrid technology and is the key to implementing our steam hybrid conversion on commercial vehicles. Tests have been on going in running the Wenkle engine on Steam only; this was in preparation for implementation of the Steam Accumulator."
This Steam/Hybrid technology will increase fuel mileage and efficiency for a realistic fuel savings of up to 40% with cleaner emissions. The Steam Accumulator Hybrid Power technology is a unique power train for hybrid vehicles. Heat energy, which is normally dissipated in conventional combustion engines from the exhaust system and the radiator, is captured, which in turn charges the alternative auxiliary power unit. This heat energy is an equivalent to two-thirds of the energy in the combusted fuel. This energy is recovered in part in a combined steam accumulator and energy reservoir using a saturated liquid, like water, as the energy storage medium, offering a potential fuel saving of up to 30%-40% percent compared with the conventional heat engine cycle.
All new technologies and Intellectual Properties that have been developed in the process of building Clean Power's Steam Accumulator as a result of the Collaboration Program with Doosan Babcock Energy Ltd. which are patentable and/or patented, or otherwise are at all times the property off and solely owned by Clean Power Technologies Inc.
Clean Power has purchased two Mazda RX8's as its prototype test vehicles. Once the fully functional developmental unit is complete, the two vehicles will be modified with the hybrid power train. With the steam accumulator now developed and delivered it is anticipated that by the Spring of 2008 the planned hybridized Mazda RX8 vehicle will be complete and ready for road tests.
