Agfa HealthCare wins radiology and cardiology PACS / CVIS contract at Morris Hospital

Integrated IMPAX(TM) and cardiovascular image and information management solution installed Q2 2007

SIIM 2007 (booth # 223) / Providence, RI (USA) - June 7, 2007 - 9:00am EDT

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces today, at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), that Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers of Morris, Illinois, has installed Agfa HealthCare's integrated radiology and cardiology solution - featuring Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX(TM) Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) and the Cardiovascular Image and Information Management (CVIS) solutions - in a deal completed earlier this year that includes service maintenance agreements. The installation of the two integrated systems at Morris Hospital, which performs 60,000 radiology and cardiology exams each year, was completed early in the second quarter of 2007.

"Agfa HealthCare's IMPAX and CVIS solutions with a unified patient database will greatly improve our clinical workflow in both the radiology and cardiology departments, helping our staff to be more efficient," said John Roundtree, PACS administrator, Morris Hospital. "Already we have seen greater flexibility, thanks to the systems' multi-vendor integration capabilities, which have been a tremendous help to us here at Morris Hospital in our quest to provide increased quality of care for our patients."

IMPAX is a web-deployable radiology solution that improves enterprise workflow and delivers increased efficiency and productivity. Featuring an intuitive design, PACS administrators, radiologists, clinicians, and referring physicians use IMPAX PACS to improve the delivery of healthcare services.  "Morris Hospital will benefit greatly from the integrated package of Agfa HealthCare's radiology and cardiology solutions," said Kevin Roesch, Cardiovascular Department Manager, Morris Hospital. "The system, which operates smoothly in a vendor-neutral environment, will help our staff to be more efficient when it comes to working with their patients. Agfa HealthCare's integration teams and training staff were also excellent to work with and we are enthusiastic to move forward with our new system."

Combined with Agfa HealthCare's Cardiology CVIS, required images and the efficiency-enabling structured reporting functionality will be stored in a central archive solution, thus making information from both disciplines available throughout the enterprise. "The complete cardiology patient record is easily accessed by each user and diagnostic decisions can be made more quickly. We were looking for a vendor that could integrate cardiology and radiology as well as our current ECG / stress / holter management systems. We are looking forward to the delivery of nuclear cardiology to complete our CVIS system which will provide physicians with a user-friendly imaging and reporting system from a single point of access," continued Roesch.

"Morris Hospital came to us looking for an integrated solution that would maximize storage for archival purposes and utilize database sharing with ease. Agfa HealthCare's integrated PACS and CVIS system can provide facilities like Morris Hospital with the tools they need, to give them the opportunity to offer a higher level of service to their patients," said David Chambers, vice president, Sales and Services, Agfa HealthCare Americas.
