Checkpoint Patron Services Launches Groundbreaking "Youniquely 4 U" Service at ALA Annual Meeting

THOROFARE, NJ--(Marketwire - June 22, 2007) - Checkpoint Systems, Inc.'s (NYSE: CKP) Patron Services Division, the leading provider of technology-driven patron services for libraries, will launch its breakthrough "Youniquely 4 U" service at this week's annual meeting of the American Library Association (ALA).

Youniquely 4 U (Y4U) is an innovative new service that enables libraries to pro-actively offer highly relevant programs and information to patrons based on their unique interests and needs. This is the first patron communications service, branded under each library's own name, ever to be introduced to the public library market in North America.

Y4U has already been deployed at a number of public libraries in various markets nationwide, generating extraordinary response from patrons. The public market debut of Y4U will take place at the ALA Annual Meeting, which runs from June 23-26 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

"Y4U is a unique library programming service that enables public libraries to help their patrons take advantage of activities and resources within the library and the wider community that support their individual interests," said Michael Jermyn, general manager of Checkpoint Patron Services. "Interested patrons opt-in to this free service and, once enrolled in Y4U, patrons have information and resources that reflect their interests sent to them for their review and response."

"For example, someone who checks out a book about parenting may have information about local parenting classes emailed to them, might be sent a list of local pediatricians or might receive a coupon from the local family fun center," Jermyn explained. "The goal is for patrons to find everything they need to support their individual interests from one source at the library."

The Y4U service is driven by patrons' "at the moment" needs and interests, as determined by the information they seek in the library, and therefore allows library professionals to touch their patrons when they are most likely to appreciate the bundling of information and resources to enrich their interests. This includes invitations to events sponsored by the library and other partners within the community, as well as additional resources such as notices of additional content and expertise available to them in the library.

Carol Nersinger, director of the East Brunswick Public Library in East Brunswick, N.J., was one of the first library professionals to see the potential of Y4U and agreed to have her library serve as an early adopter of the service.

"We've spent the last year or so trying to develop the ability to provide our local patrons with more targeted programs and bring more people into our facility," explained Nersinger. "Checkpoint's Y4U service has the potential to help libraries like ours accomplish this goal without having to invent the wheel from scratch. Quite simply, Y4U can help us serve the information and services needs of our patrons in ways that no single public library system ever could on its own, so I encourage all of my colleagues to come check out this breakthrough new service at the ALA Annual Meeting."

Checkpoint's new Y4U service is available for one-on-one demonstrations this week in Booth #4125 on the exhibit floor at the ALA Annual Meeting.
