WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - July 2, 2007) - Worldwide Assistance
Services, Inc., the U.S. business unit of the Europ Assistance Group,
today announced that First Citizens National Bank of Tennessee (FCNB) is
offering Worldwide Assistance's Identity Theft Resolution services to its
DDA and credit/debit card customers.
The move flows from FCNB's longstanding commitment to educating its
customers and the community's surrounding branch offices on how to combat
fraud and identity theft.
"FCNB grasped the scope and personal impact of the identity theft problem
years ago," said Kirk Voisin, VP of Business Development and Client
Services of Worldwide Assistance. "Their leadership on this issue continues
to deliver solid benefits to customers and the community alike, and we're
pleased to be supporting them on this front."
The FBI called identity theft "a significant and growing crime problem" and
an "increasingly insidious and pervasive problem," one that victimizes some
10 million Americans annually. Beyond its annual estimated price tag of $50
billion, identity theft costs individual victims as much as 600 hours of
their time -- the average amount spent clearing one's name and credit
history after their identity is stolen.
Worldwide Assistance Identity Theft Resolution helps victims quickly and
easily recover from identity theft by assigning a specially trained
coordinator to work with them toward a complete resolution. The coordinator
personally assists the victim by doing the necessary paperwork, making
appropriate phone calls, and completing other restoration activities, such
as credit report reviews, account cancellations, disputed items removal,
and more.
"We see identity theft as a growing problem and a concern for our
customers," said Brooks McDonald, Bank Insurance Sales Manager of FCNB.
"When we made the decision to offer an ID theft protection product, we
wanted one that offered comprehensive protection as the time spent on and
headaches of identity theft resolution often cost customers far more than
the direct losses."
