LXI Consortium's Beijing Meeting Draws Record Attendance
Consortium's First Asian General Meeting Shows Strong Interest Among Both Instrument Manufacturers and System Integrators
| Source: LXI Consortium
DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - July 9, 2007) - The LXI Consortium announced a
record attendance for its General Meeting in Beijing, China, June 19-21,
2007. More than 150 product developers and system integrators (nearly twice
the previous high for similar LXI events held on other continents) heard
presentations in two technical tracks: "How To Develop LXI Products" and
"How to Implement LXI Technology." Presentation podcasts were captured and
are available for viewing on the LXI site at
http://www.lxistandard.org/about/events/. Member companies from around the
world also demonstrated the capabilities of their products at a mini trade
show.
Commenting on the attendance, Bob Stasonis, LXI Marketing Committee Chair,
said, "The large turnout from product developers confirms that there is a
great deal of interest in LXI by test and measurement equipment
manufacturers." Mr. Jianping Cui, Deputy Publisher of the Journal of
Electronic Measurement and Instrument and a member of the China LXI
Committee, supported this view. He noted that many engineers are paying
close attention to developments in LXI technology. He stated that LXI is
widely used in ATE systems today
and acceptance is developing very quickly. He also indicated that hundreds
of university laboratories and thousands of researchers are working on and
with LXI-related products. He cited a number of opportunities for LXI in
China, and concluded that LXI has a vital presence and a bright future in
the country.
In a podcast from the meeting, Bob Rennard, LXI Consortium president,
states that the Consortium chose to hold a General Meeting in Beijing
because China is an important center of test and measurement technology in
Asia. He goes on to describe the benefits of LXI and the Consortium's role
in advancing the new standard.
Introduced in 2005, the LXI Standard has been rapidly adopted by 50
companies, representing a who's who of the test-and-measurement industry.
They recognize LXI as the natural successor to GPIB, and that it is time
for instruments to go beyond GPIB to make it easier for test system
designers and integrators to create faster, more efficient systems.
About LXI and the LXI Consortium
LXI is the LAN-based successor to GPIB. The LXI standard goes beyond GPIB
to provide additional capabilities that reduce the time it takes to set up,
configure and debug test systems. LXI also helps integrators leverage the
time and effort already invested in system software and architecture. The
standard is managed by the LXI Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation
comprised of leading test-and-measurement companies. The group's goals are
to develop, support and promote the LXI standard. LXI's flexible packaging,
high-speed I/O, and prolific use of LAN address a broad range of
commercial, industrial, aerospace and military applications.
