Fredric G. Levin of Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Echsner & Proctor, P.A. Named Among Top Attorneys in Florida by SuperLawyers

PENSACOLA, Fla., July 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Echsner & Proctor, P.A. is pleased to announce that Fredric G. Levin has been named by SuperLawyers magazine to the publication's Top Attorneys in Florida. Fredric G. Levin's profile is included online at www.levinlaw.com and will be in the magazine's Florida June 2007 issue, available this month.

Florida SuperLawyers magazine took a comprehensive look at those lawyers who represent the little guy in cases ranging from medical malpractice to mass torts and class actions, often with multi-million dollar results. It is comprised of lawyers from a wide range of practices, ranging from employment discrimination to toxic torts, aviation disasters to birth negligence. Those named to the list represent less than one-half of one percent of the legal profession, placing them among the most elite group of legal professionals.

Firm President, Mark Proctor expressed the firm's sentiment, "We are all very proud that Fred was selected by SuperLawyers, they could not have picked a more distinguished trial lawyer."

Fredric G. Levin, who resides in Pensacola, Florida, focuses his practice on Personal Injury and Wrongful Death. He earned his J.D. from The University of Florida College of Law in 1961. He graduated number three in his class, was a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Kappa Phi. He earned his B.S. from The University of Florida in 1958.

Fred Levin is one of the most successful trial attorneys in the country. He has received more than twenty-five jury verdicts in excess of $1,000,000 (six in excess of $10,000,000). At various points in his career, he has held the national record for jury verdicts involving the wrongful death of a child, the wrongful death of a housewife, the wrongful death of a wage earner, and the largest personal injury verdict in the state of Florida. He is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an organization limited to 100 members throughout the country, and has been listed in every edition of the publication "Best Lawyers in America."

When asked about his greatest accomplishment, however, Mr. Levin states he is most proud of his idea in 1993 of rewriting the Florida Medicaid Third Party Recovery Act to permit the State of Florida to sue the Tobacco Industry to recover expenditures for treating illnesses caused by cigarette smoking. Mr. Levin wrote the legislation, and was instrumental in its passage. Immediately after its passage, the legislation was described as "the single biggest blow against the tobacco industry in United States history." The legislation eventually resulted in a $13 billion dollar settlement for the State of Florida. He is also proud that the University of Florida is now the site of the Fredric G. Levin College of Law.
