GOLETA, CA--(Marketwire - August 23, 2007) -
BIOPAC Systems,
Inc. -- worldwide distributor for Samba Sensors AB, Sweden --
introduces new generation fiber-optic pressure measurement systems using
ultra-miniature sensors. Systems are available for pressure measurement on
one channel (BIOPAC
MPMS100A-1, Samba 201) or two channels (BIOPAC
MPMS100A-2, Samba 202). The new systems are stand-alone devices
developed for high precision pressure monitoring, and easily interface with
BIOPAC
MP150/MP100 data
acquisition systems and
amplifiers for comprehensive physiological research, with a primary use
in life science applications.
The new micro pressure measurement system with the ultra-miniature Samba
Preclin™ transducer (BIOPAC
TSD170 series) is particularly useful for cardiovascular studies, e.g.
to monitor real-time intravascular blood pressure (IBP), left ventricular
pressure (LVP), right ventricular pressure (RVP) and right atrial pressure
(RAP) in mice and other small animals. The system's insensitivity to all
forms of electro-magnetic fields offers the ability to monitor all these
parameters in real time during MRI scanning.
Examples of other areas where the Samba system offers unique performance
include neuro-trauma, respiratory, orthopedic, oncology and urology
research.
Intelligent electronics in conjunction with fiber optics produce accurate
data at high speed, making instantaneous pressure change analysis possible.
New features include:
-- Two ultra-miniature fiber-optic transducers can be connected
simultaneously for relative pressure studies (BIOPAC TSD170, Samba
Preclin™ series).
-- Improved pre-calibration concept -- the transducer's calibration
information is now stored directly on its optical connector. The
information is automatically read into the control unit at start-up. No
further recalibration is needed.
-- Data sampling rate of up to 40 kHz offers unmatched possibilities to
visualize detailed pressure patterns during fractions of a second, all
within a hand-held device.
-- Size, weight, battery operation and internal data storage capacity
make it fully portable and suitable for most research conditions, e.g.
studies on location and in the MRI lab.
-- Interface with BIOPAC MP Research Systems or most third-party data
acquisition systems.
-- USB 2.0 port facilitates data transfer into a computer.
