Competitive Technologies Hosts U.S. Congressman Shays

FAIRFIELD, Conn., Aug. 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Competitive Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:CTT) announced today that they had the pleasure of hosting Rep. Christopher Shays, the U.S. Congressman for Connecticut's Fourth District which includes Fairfield, the location of CTT's offices. The Congressman, who is active on Committees for Homeland Security, Financial Services, and Oversight and Government Reform, visits regularly with business leaders throughout the district, such as CTT.

"It was an honor to welcome Representative Shays, and to explain to him CTT's goals and how it fulfills them to create shareholder value," said John B. Nano, CTT's Chairman, President and CEO. "As a technology transfer and licensing provider, CTT's clients and customers are dependant upon the patents that protect our portfolio of technologies developed by universities, companies and individual inventors. We are partners with our government in setting an environment that allows new technologies to quickly and efficiently replace older, outdated ones. An example is our HB LED lighting and solar panel technology replacing decades old incandescent and florescent lighting technologies."

Congressman Shays is a sponsor of the bipartisan Energy Reform Bill that seeks to decrease U.S. dependence on foreign oil, protect the environment, build a market for renewable energy, and promote energy conservation.

Mr. Nano added, "This meeting gave us the opportunity to discuss with Rep. Shays items of interest to CTT, and issues on which the Congressman has been a strong advocate during his time in Congress, such as health care, energy and homeland security. Several of the technologies in CTT's portfolio, including the newly acquired UAD device, bone biomaterial, Lupus diagnostic and monitoring, pain management, stress reduction, structural steel fissure detection paint, sunless tanning for cancer reduction, diesel additive, and cholesterol trapping and regeneration fall within the scope of the Congressman's interests. In addition to reviewing specific CTT technologies, we were able to relate the need for government and business to work together for a streamlined government approval process, with a shortened time-to-market, to benefit the public as well as the inventor and create a strong economic base."
