RAUTARUUKKI INCLUDED IN DOW JONES STOXX SUSTAINABILITY INDEX

Rautaruukki has been included in the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index. The
index includes leading European companies in terms of sustainable development.
Companies are included in the index on the basis of an annual assessment.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) is the first
global index to track sustainability. The STOXX Index in the Dow Jones index
family that Rautaruukki has been included in was launched in 2001 to track the
sustainability performance of European companies.

A total of 17 new companies were included on the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability
Index. At the same time, 22 companies already in the index were excluded. In
addition to Rautaruukki, six other Finnish companies were included on the
index.

The selection of companies to be included in the index is based on a strict
analysis that assesses a company's financial, social and environmental
performance. Companies are assessed according to general and sector-specific
criteria. Assessment is carried out by an independent Swiss party, A SAM Group
Holding AG.
