Construction Firm Aardex Selects IP5280 Communications for a Greener Colorado
Using VoIP vs. Traditional Phone Lines Saves Energy From Copper Wire Production, Reduces Waste, Promotes Employee Productivity

ENGLEWOOD, CO and GOLDEN, CO--(Marketwire - September 19, 2007) - IP5280 Communications,
Colorado's business VoIP specialists, announced today an agreement to
provide Internet voice and data communications to Denver-based Aardex LLC,
a national, full service design, development and construction firm of
User Effective Buildings.
In June, Aardex completed the construction of Signature Centre, a
one-of-a-kind "green" office building in Denver West, and proudly announced
the building's Platinum certification in Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) -- the nationally accepted benchmark for the
design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
Signature Centre is the first commercial LEED Platinum building in
Colorado.
As part of the design considerations for the physical office environment at
Signature Centre, Aardex selected IP5280's Internet voice and data
communications for its offices because VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)
eliminates the need for copper phone cabling used with traditional phones.
Instead, IP5280's hosted VoIP operates over the same wiring infrastructure
used for broadband Internet service, eliminating more than half of the
required wiring.
"We chose IP5280 for the advanced communication services that VoIP delivers
to our employees and the green solution it offers the environment," said
Brian Fisher, Information Technology Systems Administrator for Aardex. "We
realized an even greater value by eliminating the existing phone system and
telephone wires disbursed to every office. The fundamental goal for Aardex
is to carve out the waste and focus on a cleaner environment."
Aardex also selected IP5280's hosted VoIP service due to realized cost
savings and better productivity among employees. VoIP users can "future
proof" their phone system by receiving software updates, making hardware
replacement less frequent. Further, advanced features such as sending
voicemail to an email inbox, simultaneous ring on multiple phones, and the
integration of telephony functions with computer applications like Outlook
all create a more efficient and productive workplace for employees. VoIP
also makes telecommuting, a growing trend for the environmentally conscious
worker, easier than ever.
"According to industry statistics, more than 1.5 billion pounds of copper
is freshly mined for use in IT cables each year, and U.S. copper and copper
alloy consumption in electrical and electronic applications produces more
than 80 billion pounds of waste," said John Scarborough, co-founder and
managing partner of IP5280. "With hundreds of millions of miles of copper
wire crisscrossing the U.S., one of the largest man-made deposits of copper
on the planet is the current phone network twisted throughout the nation's
corporate offices. With VoIP, we are helping to drive not only a technology
change, but an environmental change, by retiring old phone networks,
promoting recycling vs. mining, and reducing our planets dependency on
energy-intensive natural resources. We are proud to be working with the
Aardex team and look forward to working with other businesses in Colorado
and across the country to support a greener environment."
