EWJ Teknik A/S has signed a distribution contract for Automatic Test Lanes (ATL) with Opus distributor V-Tech UK. The initial sales volume is valued to approximately 8 MSEK for the first 12 month period but is likely to increase as the market is expected to grow due to new regulations. An ATL is a complete computerised test lane for emission and safety control of vehicles. The ATL from EWJ is certified by VOSA in the UK and includes; emission tester (from Opus), brake tester, suspension tester, headlight tester and a lift. The market price to the stations of a test lane is around SEK 350 000 for a class IV model (cars) and around SEK 480 000 for class VII (light trucks). V-Tech UK is one of Opus most successful distributors and has the last three years managed to make “Opus” into a well established brand for emission and diagnostic equipment in Great Britain. “By year 2009 it will be mandatory for MOT stations to buy only complete certified ATL systems and by year 2012 all of the 18 300 MOT stations in the UK will have to be upgraded with an ATL system which will create a huge market for us” says Henrik Wagner Jörgensen, Managing Director of EWJ Teknik A/S. “This is the first extensive example of a cross sale contract as a real synergy of the acquisition of the EWJ Group in May this year, and we are sure that this is only the beginning as we see several opportunities on other markets ahead which will enable to continue our extensive growth” says Magnus Greko, Managing Director of the Opus Group.
