Pöyry has expanded its waste management services portfolio and market presence in the environmental business by acquiring Ingenieurgemeinschaft Witzenhausen Fricke & Turk GmbH (IGW), Germany. The acquisition strengthens Pöyry's position in Germany as a leading consultant in environmental consulting and engineering, employing more than 300 experts.
IGW was founded in 1986 as the first consulting engineer to introduce separate collection of organic waste in Germany. IGW's operational base is in Witzenhausen and it is one of the leading companies in Europe for waste management, specialised in mechanical and biological waste treatment. The company's net sales in 2006 amounted to EUR 2 million and it employs 20 experts. Ingenieurgemeinschaft Witzenhausen Fricke & Turk GmbH will be consolidated into Pöyry as of October 1, 2007.
Pöyry is a global consulting and engineering firm focusing on the energy, forest industry and infrastructure & environment sectors. Pöyry's net sales in 2006 amounted to about EUR 620 million and it employs 7000 experts.
