CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - October 18, 2007) - Vlingo Corporation, which delivers the
industry's most advanced voice-powered user interface for mobile
applications, announced today that John Elliott has joined the company as
vice president of sales.
Vlingo has expanded its senior management team in response to company
growth since vlingo launched in August.
Elliott, an established veteran within the carrier field, joins vlingo from
Nuance Communications, the world's largest speech recognition software
provider for call center automation applications, where he served as
director of service provider Sales. Elliott brings to vlingo more than 10
years of experience in speech recognition, as well as a proven track record
of establishing new markets for industry-leading telecommunications
technologies.
"John's experience in the field of speech recognition, combined with his
history of success introducing revolutionary technologies to the
telecommunications industry, makes him a valuable addition to the veteran
vlingo team," said Dave Grannan, president and CEO of vlingo Corporation.
"John is an innovator in developing channels around business models and
technologies and we are thrilled to welcome him to vlingo."
As vice president of sales, Elliott will work to develop vlingo's channel
strategy while building a global sales force. Elliott will also implement
innovative distribution strategies within the industry.
"Hands down, vlingo has the industry's best technology," said Elliott. "Our
unique approach does away with the need for expensive custom grammars and
lengthy development cycles, which means we can find groundbreaking ways to
bring voice recognition to market without burdensome economics."
Elliott's career has traversed numerous speech-recognition benchmarks,
including the first automation for directory assistance and
advertiser-sponsored directory assistance, as well as numerous first-time
deployments for various carrier and enterprise customers. Earlier in his
career, he
co-founded an early-stage business incubator in Dallas, TX in 2000 and has
the distinction of being one of the first employees of McCaw Cellular/ATT
Wireless' National Accounts Program. A resident of Dallas, TX, Elliott is a
graduate of The University of Tulsa.
