(Lysaker, 23 October 2007) Last week Nord Pool reached the highest weekly exchange traded volume ever in the company's history. The new volume record is 53.4 TWh, up from 45.4 in week 41 in 2002. Together with the OTC volumes, over 100 TWh were traded and cleared on Nord Pool last week. Torger Lien, CEO in Nord Pool ASA states: “We have seen an increase in the market share for exchange traded power this year. This proves that our members appreciate the standardized power contracts and the security Nord Pool can provide through the regulated and monitored market place.” So far this year the turnover has been 817 TWh traded on the exchange and 1024.2 TWh cleared from the OTC market. Compared to the same period in 2006 the figures were 619.4 TWh exchange traded and 1089.8 TWh OTC cleared. “Nord Pool is the leading power exchange in Europe and we intend to maintain this position through the addition of new products and services, tailored to meet the needs of our customers”, Lien says.
