Cooley Successfully Advises on IP Settlement for Largest Company in Taiwan

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - October 30, 2007) - Cooley
Godward Kronish recently advised on a patent litigation settlement for
Hon Hai Precision Industries Co., Ltd., "Hon Hai," (also known as Foxconn),
the largest company in Taiwan and the largest exporter from China. The
terms of the settlement are confidential.
The patent litigation was brought by O2 Micro Int'l Ltd. in the Eastern
District of Texas. O2 Micro initially accused Hon Hai of infringing three
separate patents, all of which had been found valid and willfully infringed
upon in previous trials in Texas in other cases not involving Hon Hai.
Cooley litigators successfully invalidated one of the three patents earlier
this year in a trial before Judge Claudia Wilken in the Northern District
of California. The case involving the two remaining patents was set to go
to trial on Oct. 23 in Marshall, Texas.
