Feintool achieves another increase in sales, new orders and orders in hand

The Feintool Group, a leading technology and systems provider and global components supplier based in Lyss (Switzerland), has reported another satisfactory increase in volumes for the 2006/07 financial year (which ended on 30 September 2007). Thanks to attractive products and services that provide a high degree of customer satisfaction, as well as to the positive economic environment, consolidated sales rose 3.9% year-on-year to CHF 520.4 million and new orders by 14.9% to CHF 586.6 million. Orders on hand soared 39.0% to CHF 237.7 million, which enables Feintool to look forward to the new financial year with confidence.

The company's cornerstone Fineblanking/Forming segment increased sales by 5.7% to CHF 337.5 million (previous year: CHF 319.2 million), thereby contributing 64.9% to Group sales (previous year: 63.7%). In the presses and equipment business, sales of the Feintool and Schmid brands managed yet again to improve on the high levels of the preceding years. In the components business, the European factories posted double-digit percentage growth rates, the Japanese and the US companies single-digit rates. Year-on-year, the order intake in this segment rose by 8.5% and orders on hand by 26.3%.

By focusing on existing key customers and on new industries, the Automation segment raised sales to CHF 116.4 million (previous year: CHF 111.1 million). This segment accounted for 22.4% (previous year: 22.2%) of Group sales. The assembly systems business successfully entered further promising cutting-edge industries such as medical technology and photovoltaics. The components business has been expanded to include a range of innovative products. The segment achieved impressive increases of 53.9% in order intake and 120.4% in orders in hand.

The Plastic/Metal Components segment reported a drop in sales to CHF 67.5 million (previous year: CHF 72.9 million) and accounted for 13.0% (previous year: 14.6%) of Group sales as the lack of new orders in prior years made itself felt. The positive contributions of the new segmental management's marketing drive, along with the current restructuring and process adjustments (such as the decision to close the plant in Thailand), will only take effect down the line.

Thanks to a 14.9% increase in order intake to CHF 586.6 million and a 39% increase in orders in hand to CHF 237.7 million compared with the previous year, Feintool has made a healthy start to the 2007/08 financial year.
