LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - November 2, 2007) - Gas prices throughout Southern California rose again during the past week, posting a gain of nearly 40 cents since September 1, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.160, which is 3.7 cents higher than last week, 20 cents above last month, and 75 cents more than last year. In San Diego, the price is $3.189, which is 2.3 cents above last week's price, 20 cents up from last month, and 78 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.281, up 2 cents from last week, 19 cents above last month, and 59 cents more than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average price is $3.161, 4 cents more than last week, 20 cents above last month, and 77 cents higher than last year.
"Although the price of a barrel of oil has increased more than 30 percent since September 1, gasoline has increased about 14 percent," said Auto Club spokesperson Carol Thorp. "To date, seasonally light demand seems to be keeping the higher price of oil from fully being felt at the pump."
