Skylight Healthcare Systems Announces Three New Aurora Health Care Partners

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Skylight Healthcare Systems(r), the industry pioneer in interactive patient system technology, announced the signing of three Aurora Health Care(r) hospitals: Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI; Aurora St. Luke's South Shore in Cudahy, WI; and Aurora West Allis Memorial Hospital in West Allis, WI. With Skylight's current partnership at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, the Skylight ACCESS(r) Interactive Patient System will be integrated at four of Aurora Health Care hospitals.

Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit Wisconsin integrated health care provider, has become a nationally recognized leader for their efforts to improve the quality of health care. In this respect, they understand that the Skylight ACCESS Interactive Patient System will empower patients with information and provide interactive services that can greatly enhance the overall patient experience and ultimately improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Patients at Aurora St. Luke's, Aurora St. Luke's South Shore and Aurora West Allis will now have direct access to disease- and condition-specific health information (offered both on-demand, and when integrated with other hospital systems, scheduled based on matching patient clinical needs with targeted interventions), connection to patient support departments, and a real-time feedback forum which will allow the hospitals to solicit patient feedback and then provide immediate service recovery to address any patient issues. Patients will also enjoy high-speed Internet, e-mail and other first-class entertainment options including movies, music and games.

Using Skylight ACCESS combined with admission, discharge and transfer data, and HL7 (or other) interfaces, events are mapped along the patient care continuum and appropriate communication, education, information and messaging functions are deployed to optimize the patient experience and enhance clinical outcomes. Skylight's vision is "Enhancing the Patient Care Continuum," which will allow hospitals to provide personalized patient care plans during, before and after their hospital stay.

The Skylight ACCESS Interactive Patient System uses a robust, dedicated fiber network infrastructure combined with a proprietary technology platform to offer exceptional bandwidth and speed, allowing extensive integrated communication applications at the bedside. The technology is cutting-edge, but user friendly. Patients will use a customized pillow speaker control or a wireless keyboard to control the ACCESS system, and existing in-room television monitors are repurposed as the display device.

"We are proud that Aurora Health Care has once again selected Skylight," said David Schofield, President and CEO of Skylight. "Aurora St. Luke's, Aurora St. Luke's South Shore, and Aurora West Allis are leading the way hospitals do business through a dynamic patient system providing an exceptional patient experience," he continued.
