The Power Situation in Norway as of 26 April 2006

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):     

Less snow than normal and modest inflows to the reservoirs has resulted in reduced hydropower production the last few weeks. This has contributed to keeping electricity prices up, and as given continued high production from Nordic thermal power plants., giving Norwegian net import also in week 16. During the last fire weeks there has been a Norwegian net import of 0.7 TWh. Electricity prices in the Nordic countries is still higher than in Germany, which has given high Norwegian import also in week 16. 

The filling level in the Norwegian reservoirs is now 29.9 percentage points, after a reduction of 1.8 percentage points during week 16. In Sweden, the filling level fell by 1.3 percentage points, and is now 18.6 percent.
