Sectra to provide PACS service direct to London hospitals for BT

The IT and medical-technology company Sectra has signed a comprehensive
agreement with British Telecommunications plc (BT) to provide Picture Archiving
and Communications System (PACS) products and services to the majority of
London's public hospitals. 

BT is the Local Service Provider (LSP) for the NHS London Programme for IT
(LPfIT). The National Health Service (NHS) is the publicly funded UK national
healthcare system. BT has been providing Sectra's PACS (a system for handling
radiology images electronically) to London trusts via a former Sectra partner
since 2004.

Under the agreement, Sectra will, as a subcontractor to BT, begin to assume
direct and full responsibility for the support and maintenance of the systems
and will also supply additional PACS products. 

The 21 London trusts comprise of 25 hospitals that combined perform more than
4,000,000 radiology examinations annually.  

“This agreement confirms our ability to provide timely, first-class service and

be chosen to take over the service responsibility of such a large group of
critical radiology operations is an acknowledgement to our very capable staff.”

In addition to direct sales efforts, Sectra continues to offer direct PACS
service and support agreements to any customers that previously purchased Sectra
products through partners.

About NHS Connecting for Health
NHS Connecting for Health was formed as an agency of the British Department of
Health on April 1, 2005 with the primary role of delivering the National
Programme for IT (LPfIT). The purpose is to support the NHS to deliver better,
safer care to patients, via new computer systems and services, that link general
practitioners and community services to hospitals, and to maintain the national
critical business systems previously provided by the former NHS Information
Authority.
